Gas prices!!!

I'm trying to find something on the web about how "someone" is going to do something to cap the rise of gas prices...but alas, nothing.

While we were out this morning, the price of one gallon went from $3.17 to $3.29!!  Over a dime per gallon in the course of just a few hours!!!  I don't get it.

What is the deal?  Seriously.  Are there checks and balances?  Is there some kind of accountability for the people making the price changes?
